Our 2023 Trip Projects
We’ll be leaving for Malawi on July 31st and returning on August 15th. There are 27 of us in total, including musicians, teachers, medical professionals, business leaders, and our pastors, Kim McManus and Joe Smith. We’ll be working on the following projects:
Visit villages in Blantyre hit by Cyclone Freddy
Organize a worship night in Blantyre
Work with the school’s education director to provide literacy training and develop an adult education program
Break ground on a sustainable garden that will be cultivated by community volunteers with the aim of producing enough food for the school’s feeding program
Provide women’s health and disease prevention through health awareness.
Run an arts camp for current students with the aim of developing personal leadership, communication, and critical thinking.
Create original songs, dances, and spoken word with community members in Chilinza village
Host a huge village celebration with hundreds of community members
Continuing Projects
Build a professional basketball court with the aim of generating revenue for the village in addition to provding recreation for the community members of Chilinza village
Connect village farmers with experts in sustainable farming to produce larger harvests, become less-reliant on third-party resources like fertilizer, and encourage healthy soil development
Invest in and support the school administration, teachers, after school program and adult education classes through connection, encouragement, training, and resources
Ensure the execution and sustainability of the school’s feeding program
Build teacher housing
